Highlights from St Helena’s Photography Competition
The St Helena photography competition startled judges this year with a staggering 420 photographs submitted from 84 talented competitors. The competition, launched at the beginning of June, aims to celebrate the life, wildlife and history of St Helena. With almost 2% of St Helena’s population entering the competition the judges, Robyn Sim, Barbara George, Darrin Henry and Ed Thorpe, had a challenging job ahead of them!
Of the three age categories in the competition; bronze, silver and gold winners were selected from each one. With distinctions handed to those who entered exceptional photos but did not make the winning pedestal.
Judge Ed said that, “The winning entrants were shots that best represented St Helena. These pictures reflect different viewpoints, unique pictures that we have never seen before. I was very impressed with the 10–15 age category, as they gave the older groups a real run for their money.”
All winners of the competition attended the St Helena photography awards ceremony which took place at Plantation House. We’ve selected some of our favourite photos from the official photo gallery. Which is your favourite?
