St Helena attends leading German travel show
St Helena Tourism has attended its second travel and trade show of 2018, represented for the first time at ITB Berlin in Germany by Director of Tourism, Helena Bennett, and Tourism Manager, Juliet Williams.
ITB Berlin is one of the world’s leading travel trade shows, combining leisure and business travel, adventure travel, responsible tourism and more. The show is visited by over 170,000 people each year.
St Helena Tourism was located on the African Travel & Tourism Association (Atta) stand. The show was held from Wednesday, 7 March to Sunday, 11 March. The first three days of the show were open to trade visitors only with Saturday and Sunday open to general members of the public. The Messe exhibition space has 26 large halls, some with up to three floors.
Juliet Williams said:
“To get around the campus we had to use shuttle buses, which took different routes to enable you to get from one side of the campus to another. You could walk for miles and get lost in a halls because they were so big.
“It is definitely the ideal travel show for the promotion of St Helena. We received interest from various countries within Europe and beyond. Some people knew about St Helena and wanted updates on our access, whereas others expressed an interest for the first time and were fascinated to find out more information about the Secret of the South Atlantic.”
St Helena will be exhibiting at Experience Latin America by LATA and Experience Africa by Atta in London in June.
