St Helena Tourism at Pure Life Experiences 2017
St Helena has been basking in attention from some of the top luxury tour operators and media from around the world at this week’s Pure Life Experiences show in Marrakech (10-14 September 2017).
Founded in 2009 to cater for the high-end experiential travel market, Pure welcomes delegates by invitation only at the Palais de Congrès for three days of networking and meetings. St Helena Tourism, represented by Samantha Kirton from the Island’s UK PR team, took part in 40 one-to-one appointments over the course of the show.
The event kicked off at The Source, a luxury venue on the outskirts of Marrakech, with two days of inspiring talks and workshops set around the tranquil gardens and pool. Social media, sustainability and conscious travel were high on the agenda. The main conference then got underway on Tuesday.
Everyone was eager to hear the news about the SA Airlink scheduled flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town to St Helena starting in October. Operators from Russia, Sweden, Italy, Brazil and Canada as well as the UK, France and South Africa were amongst those keen to hear why St Helena will be a must visit destination in 2018.
The luxury media and operators were also excited by the imminent opening of the Mantis St Helena. The marine life, diving and hiking were popular topics of conversation, closely followed by the birding and Napoleonic heritage.
The star of the show (apologies to Jonathan) was the whale shark usbs that were handed out with all the need to know information on St Helena.
With plenty of opportunities to network sprinkled throughout the week, word of St Helena Island was spread far and wide. From the UK’s Telegraph Ultra and Tatler to Conde Nast Traveler USA and Spain’s Fuera de Serie, we look forward to working with some of the world’s top media titles to continue the awareness raising for the ‘Secret of the South Atlantic’.
