St Helena Tourism attends Experience Latin America and Experience Africa Travel Shows

St Helena Tourism crossed the seas to attend Experience Latin America by LATA (Latin America Travel Association) and Experience Africa by ATTA (African Travel and Tourism Association) travel shows in London.


Experience Latin America

For the past 12 years, ELA by LATA has been the only B2B travel event that brings together key buyers from the UK and Europe for Latin America travel, as well as other locations, including St Helena. This invitation only event took place in London from 11 – 13 June.

For the third year since joining LATA, St Helena was present at ELA armed with a full schedule of meetings and seminar appointments. Attending this year was Helena Bennett, Director of Tourism, and Kimberley Peters, Marketing Officer.

Kimberley said:

“This was my first experience attending a Travel Show for St Helena Tourism. The opportunity to showcase the island as a destination and experiences that make up that destination allowed me to see full circle of the process of engaging Tour Operators to begin selling St Helena and to encourage trade media to keep their agents informed of the island.
“What visitors to the stand were most intrigued and excited about was the commencement of the second flight in December, allowing their clients more flexibility when booking a holiday.”

Helena was given the incredible opportunity to speak about St Helena and her tourism offering and new flights during the seminar “Pay it Forward: Sustainable, Responsible, Ethical Footprint.”

Experience Africa

Due to the success of Experience Latin America by LATA, ATTA hosted their invitation only event, Experience Africa, in London from 25 – 27 June.

Experience Africa is a B2B event that presents the very best Africa product portfolios, and connects European buyers and handpicked quality exhibitors, maximising exposure in a way never seen before in the UK by the African Trade.
St Helena packed its bags once again and flew to the show to discuss the island’s tourism offering to those in attendance through scheduled meetings. Attending this year was Juliet Williams, Tourism Manager, and Merrill Joshua, Tourism Projects Manager.

Juliet said:

“People we spoke to over these three days find Experience Africa to be very beneficial as it is a direct Business-to-Business show. We experienced questions such as: ‘where do you fly from?’ ‘What is the frequency of flights?’ ‘What does St Helena offer visitors?’ ‘Is there sufficient to do for a week?’
“We were very fortunate to be here at the show to spread the word that St Helena has weekly flights and is open for business.”
