St Helena Tourism Film Awards

St Helena Tourism’s Award-Winning Videos Recognised at Two International Film Festivals in 2025

Lying in the vast Atlantic Ocean lies one of the world’s most remote islands, St Helena. This special little world took center stage on the international big screen and unveiled the beauty of St Helena and commitment to sustainable tourism through two tourism videos featured at two international film festivals in 2025.

‘Bone Shark Island’ featured a short documentary putting a spotlight on St Helena Island’s seasonal whale shark population and the work of the St Helena National Trust to monitor these visiting gentle giants, along with their their dedicated marine conservation efforts and educational outreach to the island’s residence.

‘Bone Shark Island’ was awarded Winner in the Environmental category at the prestigious Houston Underwater Film Festival (HUFF) in May 2025. This recognition underscores St Helena’s position as a leader in eco-tourism and a must-visit for marine life enthusiasts and responsible travellers.

Following this success, our narrative-driven short film, ‘Come and Find Me,’ premiered, offering viewers an immersive journey through the beauty of St Helena. From its charming heritage buildings that tell tales of centuries past, to the sunset-kissed coloured hills, luscious green forests, and untouched black sand beaches. Naturally, it also featured its abundant marine life, including our famous seasonal whale sharks.

‘Come and Find Me’ has earned the distinguished title of Gold Award in the Tourism Destination (International) category at the International Tourism Film Festival Africa (ITFFA) in June 2025. This award grows the island’s reputation as a unique travel destination that offers an unforgettable island experience.

These two accolades are more than just awards; they are a testament to St Helena’s dedication to celebrating its natural beauty and its efforts in sustainable tourism.
